Terms of service

1. Agreement

These terms govern your use of TZStay, a marketplace that connects guests with accommodation hosts in Tanzania. By creating an account, booking a stay, or hosting a property, you agree to these terms.

If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Who can use TZStay

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract. You are responsible for keeping your account details accurate and your password secure.

3. Accounts

• Provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
• Do not share your account or impersonate another person.
• You are responsible for activity under your account.
• We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms or create risk for others.

4. Bookings

A booking is a direct agreement between you and the host. TZStay provides the platform, payment facilitation, and support. Listing details, availability, house rules, and cancellation policies are set by the host and shown before you book.

When you book, you agree to pay the total shown, follow the house rules, and respect the property and its neighbours.

5. Payments and fees

Payments are processed by licensed payment service providers. TZStay may charge a service fee, which is shown before you confirm. Host payouts are made after the stay according to the payout schedule.

You are responsible for any charges imposed by your mobile money provider or bank.

6. Cancellations and refunds

Cancellation terms are set by each host and displayed on the listing and at checkout. Refunds follow the applicable policy and are returned through the original payment method where possible.

If a host cancels a confirmed booking, you will be refunded in full and we will help you find an alternative.

7. Host obligations

• List only properties you are legally entitled to offer.
• Complete identity verification before publishing.
• Keep availability, prices, and amenities accurate.
• Honour confirmed bookings and respond to guests promptly.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and lawful property.
• Comply with Tanzanian tax, licensing, and safety requirements.

8. Guest obligations

• Provide accurate booking information.
• Follow house rules and treat the property with care.
• Do not exceed the agreed number of guests.
• Do not use the property for illegal activity.
• Report damage or safety concerns promptly.

9. Verification

Verification confirms that a host has submitted identity documents that our team has reviewed. It is not a guarantee of the condition of a property, and it does not replace your own judgement. Always review the listing, photos, and reviews before booking.

10. Reviews and content

Reviews must reflect a genuine stay. We may remove content that is false, abusive, discriminatory, or unlawful. By posting content, you grant TZStay a non-exclusive licence to display and use it in connection with the service.

11. Prohibited conduct

• Fraud, money laundering, or payment circumvention.
• Harassment, discrimination, or threats.
• Publishing false listings or misleading photos.
• Attempting to access another user's account or our systems.
• Scraping, reverse engineering, or disrupting the service.

12. Liability

TZStay is a marketplace, not the owner or operator of listed properties. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for the acts or omissions of hosts or guests, or for indirect or consequential loss.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Tanzanian law.

13. Disputes

If a dispute arises, contact us first so we can help resolve it. These terms are governed by the laws of Tanzania, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of Tanzanian courts.

14. Changes and termination

We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be communicated before they take effect. You may stop using TZStay at any time, and we may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms.
