How can we help?
Answers to common questions about booking, paying, and hosting.
Common questions
How do I know a stay is real?
Every host completes identity verification with NIDA, a passport, or a driver's licence before their listing can be published. Look for the verified badge on the listing and host profile.
How do I pay?
When you book, choose M-Pesa, Tigo Pesa, Airtel Money, Halopesa, or AzamPesa and enter the phone number registered to your wallet. You'll receive a prompt to approve the payment. Some stays also support card payment.
Can I pay at the property?
Payment is arranged through TZStay at booking time. If a host offers pay-on-arrival, it will be shown clearly during checkout. Never send money directly to a host outside the platform.
What is your cancellation policy?
Each host sets their own cancellation policy, shown on the listing before you book. If you cancel within the allowed window, the refund follows the policy shown on your booking.
Can I book without an account?
You can browse freely, but you need an account to book, message a host, save a wishlist, or leave a review. Creating an account takes less than a minute.
How does verification work for hosts?
Hosts submit a NIDA number, passport, or driver's licence plus a selfie. Our team reviews the documents, usually within 24 hours. Once verified, you can publish listings.
What if something goes wrong during my stay?
Message your host first — most issues are resolved quickly. If you need us, use Report a problem and our support team will step in.
Do you support Swahili?
Ndiyo. TZStay is available in English and Kiswahili. Use the language toggle in the header or in your profile settings.
